FAQs

Q:   What does natural perfume mean?

A: The majority of fragrances in the commercial marketplace contain high amounts of synthetic fragrances, which are manufactured inexpensively and derived from petrochemicals and other chemical enhancers to create a stronger, longer lasting fragrance.

Natural fragrances are essential oils and isolates derived from botanical ingredients that are harvested from the earth, such as: flowers,  fruits, sap, seeds or skin of the plant, as well as the bark, leaves, roots, resins or  wood of  certain trees and not from a lab (synthetic).

Q:  What percentage of your fragrance is natural?

A:   All the ingredients in our fragrances are 100% natural and synthetic free. Pour le Monde is the only fine fragrance company certified by the esteemed Natural Products Association. Our parfums are free of harmful chemicals such as phthalates, dyes, sulfates, chemical sunscreens, and petrochemicals. We use a corn based alcohol, essential oils and that are extracted using a steam distillation technique.

Q:  Since Pour le Monde perfumes are without synthetic boosters, how long does the fragrance last?

A:   The shelf life depends on how the fragrances are stored; in a cool, dark place without humidity. Basically, think of a fine wine. Wine improves with age as long as it is stored properly.

On the skin, natural fragrances gently evolve and last around 2-4 hours, depending on how dry or oily your skin type. Every body’s skin is different so the longevity and the spirit of the notes smell and last differently. What we love about natural perfumes is that the fragrance is not overpowering and will stay within a few feet of your body. Basically, when you leave the room, so will your fragrance!

Q:   I am very sensitive to fragrance. Will natural be better for me?

A: It depends on your sensitivity. Many people who get headaches, allergies or skin reactions from fragrances, typically have a sensitivity to the synthetics used in so many of the perfumes on the market. However, if you have allergens to certain botanicals like flowers, etc. you may still have sensitivity with natural fragrances as well. It is always best to patch test products before you use them and we suggest purchasing our samples prior. If you have any concerns, we suggest that you consult with a medical professional prior to usage.

Q:  Where are the fragrances made?

A:   Our fragrances are created in the USA with the natural ingredients, or “raws”, coming from all over the world, many tims supporting local farmers and their communities.

Q:  How much of my purchase is really going back to the charity?

A:  The charity receives 5% of the net sale (not including tax and shipping)

Q:  Do you test on animals?

A:  Absolutely not!  We are an animal cruelty free company, recognized by PETA and the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics.

Q:   What type of paper do you use in your packaging?

A:   As a sustainable and environmentally-friendly company, we were advised to print our cartons on The Forest Stewardship Council chain of custody paper, founded by the Rainforest Alliance. The council, a non-profit organization  was established to promote responsible management of the world’s forests.

Q:   Why just three scents?

A:   Our eau de parfums have been hailed as a breakthrough in natural fragrance creation. If you smell some of our natural perfume counterparts, you may agree. We're so natural that, unlike other natural perfumes in the marketplace, we do not use absolutes, which still contain trace amounts of petrochemicals. That means we only have 450+ notes to work from (the synthetic library is over 6,000!) so you can imagine how difficult it is to create our fragrances. We won't put out another fragrance until we are 100% certain we love!
